Yesmene “Gram” Jacobs, 105, of Altoona died Sunday at Golden LivingCenter- Hillview.
She was born in Kousba, Lebanon, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Baher) Abdallah. She married George N. Jacobs on Nov. 26, 1926, in Altoona. He preceded her in death.
Surviving are: a daughter, Eleanor Simm and her husband, Fred, with whom she resided; a son, George Jacobs of Apple Valley, Minn.; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Jacobs, Cathy Foy, Richard “Rick” Dean and Susan Mauri; and six great-grandchildren: Ricky Dean, Rebekah Dean, Meghan Foy, Nichlas Jacobs, Michael Jacobs and Gregory Jacobs.
Yesmene attended First Baptist Church, Altoona.
She previously had been employed in the salad kitchen at the Penn Alto Hotel and also as a clerk for Wertz Confectionary Store.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, baking bread and flower gardening.
Yesmene was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Ave., Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Tyler Pepper officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.
