William E. Imler

William E. Imler, 76, York, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Eugene Imler and Anna (Arthur) Wolfe. He was the husband of the late Delores J. (Patterson) Imler, who died on Aug. 28, 2012. The couple had been married for more than 38 years.

Surviving are five children: Beverly A. Wertz and husband, Robert E., of Mechanicsburg and Craig L. and wife, Tammy, Miki L. Rodgers, William E. Jr. and wife, Lorraine, and Stacy, all of York; five grandchildren: Spencer, William, Alexis, Grayson and Quincy; five stepgrandchildren: Jessica, Ashley, Cindy, Emily and Chelsea; two brothers: James and Chester; three half brothers: Tom Imler, George Wolfe and Mike Imler; and a sister, Sharon Lawrence.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

William was a mill worker for Smurfit-Stone Container for more than 28 years until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Vigilant Social Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose, Liberty Social Club, American Legion and West Manchester VFW Post 7374.

William enjoyed golfing, playing pool and most importantly spending time with his grandchildren.

Friends will be received from 10 until the 11 a.m. celebration of life tribute service Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, Certified Celebrant Betty Frey officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and in honor of his wife, Delores, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
