Shirley I. Cunningham, 57, Ore Hill, Roaring Spring RD, died Friday morning at Altoona Regional after an extended, hard-fought battle with cancer.
She was born in Roaring Spring, daughter of the late Raymond Meyers and Flossie Garber. She married Paul E. Cunningham on June 5, 1974, in Roaring Spring.
Surviving are her husband; two children: Kim Mock of Roaring Spring and Paul Jr. and wife, Mary, of Altoona; three grandchildren: Blaize, Kenzie and Rozlyn; and four brothers: Dwight Meyers of Martinsburg, Barry Meyers and wife, Lisa, of East Freedom, Greg Meyers of Martinsburg and Steve Meyers of Martinsburg.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Louis, Charles Garber, Raymond Jr. and infant Gene Garber.
Shirley was a 1973 graduate of Central High School and was employed at Tips and Toes Nail Salon, Bedford. She was a past member and president of the Roaring Spring Lions Club and past member of the Roaring Spring Lioness Club. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, softball, volleyball and going to the beach.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Clover Creek Church of the Brethren, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, by Pastor David Banaszak. Interment will follow in Brumbaugh Cemetery, Fredericksburg.
