Ruth E. Carroll

Ruth E. Carroll, 98, Merritt Island, Fla., formerly of Williamsburg, passed away Friday in Rockledge, Fla.
She was born in Yellow Springs, near Williamsburg, daughter of the late R. Paul and Estella V. (Lytle) Cunningham. She married Raymond Leo Carroll on Dec. 1, 1945, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buffalo, N.Y., and he passed away Aug. 16, 1972.
Surviving are a sister, E. Violet Gray of Merritt Island, Fla.; and many nephews and nieces and their families.
She was preceded in death by four sisters: Grace Fonner, Helen Lane, Kathryn Hoffman and Jane Bumgardner; three brothers: Robert, Paul and Bert; and a stepson, David Carroll.
Ruth was a 1933 graduate of Williamsburg High School. Along with her husband, she formerly owned and operated the Warriors Ridge Restaurant near Huntingdon for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, and presently attended Messiah Lutheran Church in Cocoa, Fla.
Friends will be received from 1 until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pastor Tiffany E. Marvich officiating. Private interment will be held at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
