Patricia ‘Pat’ (Hecker) Frazier

Patricia “Pat” (Hecker) Frazier, 63, Newry, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday at home after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Robert T. and Bernice (Meadows) Hecker. She married George I. Frazier on Nov. 18, 1972, in Hollidaysburg.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters: Erin Anderson and husband, Taniel, and Meredith Frazier; two sons: Matthew and wife, Lauren, and Douglas and wife, Lacy; seven grandchildren: Emma, Sophia, Will, Eliza, Wyatt, Reed and Isabel; and two sisters: Gina Montgomery and Laurie Hecker.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Thom Hecker.

Pat was a 1968 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School and earned a B.S. from Lock Haven University and a Master of Education degree from Penn State University. She had been employed with Intermediate Unit 8 and the Hollidaysburg Area School District and as a consultant for Lexia Reading. She retired as director of special education and principal at Spring Cove School District.

Pat was a member of Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, Operation Christmas Child, The Arc of Blair County, Special Olympics and church missions. She served on the advisory board of Blair County mental health and developmental programs.

Pat loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren, and she lived by the phrase, “You are blessed to be a blessing,” found in Genesis 12:2.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, April 19, 2013, at Grace Bible Church, Hollidaysburg, Pastor Daren Ritchey officiating. Interment will be made at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation for the Frazier Family Foundation, 1330 11th Ave., Altoona, PA 16601.
