Mary Alice Miller

Mary Alice Miller, 95, formerly of Altoona, passed away Saturday while living with her daughter, Ellen, in Shippensburg since her husband’s passing in 1999.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Cloyd E. and Eliza L. (Musser) Youtzy. She married James H. Miller on July 26, 1941, in Winchester, Va., and he died Sept. 16, 1999.

Surviving are two daughters: Ellen L. Hynes and husband, William, of Shippensburg and Charlotte H. Poindexter of Richmond, Va.; a son, James E. and wife, Jeannie, of Coupon; six grandchildren: Lori, Tim, Jimmy, Shawn, Eric and Jack; two great-grandchildren: Quinn and Fiona; and a sister, Beatrice Seaburg.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.

Mary was a graduate of Altoona High School and the Altoona School of Commerce. She was a member of the former Schum Memorial United Methodist Church and volunteered on the Blair County Election Board for many years. She loved music, reading and poetry and enjoyed playing the piano and organ.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the noon funeral service Friday, April 12, 2013, at Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, 1908 Seventh Ave., Altoona, the Rev. Evelyn Madison of Wehnwood United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
