K. Robert ‘Skip’ Hileman

K. Robert “Skip” Hileman, 78, Newry, passed away Thursday evening at his residence.
He was born in Altoona, son of Robert and Erdene (Showalter) Hileman. He married Gail Patricia Downing on March 31, 1959, in Winchester, Va.
Surviving are his wife; two sons: Scott (Kelli) of Altoona and Robert (Angela) of Duncansville; two daughters: Katie Demi (Brian) of Hanover and Kristy Laterza (James) of Fort Rucker, Ala.; eight grandchildren: Alisha, Erica, Tyler, Aubrey, Brett, Kasey, Cole and Trey; a great-granddaughter, Lilah; and a sister, Coralie Ann Burton in Vermont.
Skip was a 1952 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and graduated from Penn State University in 1963 with a degree in animal husbandry. He retired in 1991 after more than 30 years as a farm manager at the State Correctional Institution at Huntingdon. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hollidaysburg.
Skip was a U.S. Army veteran and a life member of the Duncansville VFW, and he was very active in 4-H.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, by Pastor Chuck Monts.
The family requests that donations be made to the Salvation Army in memory of Skip.
