Elizabeth K. ‘Betty’ Ruck

Elizabeth K. “Betty” Ruck, 88, formerly of Altoona, died Wednesday morning at Homewood at Martinsburg.

She was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., daughter of the late Herbert P. and Helen M. (Reehling) Ruck.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Joan M. Ruck, on July 23, 1999.

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Thomas Carr Howe High School in Indianapolis, Ind. She attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and then graduated from Penn State University. She retired from SKF as a secretary in the personnel office, and she also was editor of the SKF Highlander newspaper. Prior to that, she had worked in the vice president’s office of the Pennsylvania Railroad in Blair County and then for many years at Butterick Co. as a personnel office secretary.

Betty was a member of St. John’s Reformed Church, Hollidaysburg, and also belonged to Aid for Animals Laws for Paws and the 7 Winx Club of Indiana. Of the seven original members, two survive, Lucy and Juanita. She enjoyed traveling and all animals, especially her dog, Sadie Lady.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. by Pastor David P. Haydu.

Memorials may be given to St. John’s Reformed Church or the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society.
