Bernard Paul ‘Buck’ Hennigan

Bernard Paul “Buck” Hennigan, 79, Brick, N.J., passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Ocean Medical Center.

He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Richard and Bessie Hennigan. He was raised in Altoona and was a former resident of Spring Lake Heights and Point Pleasant before moving to Brick 45 years ago.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Eileen; his loving children: Patricia of Phoenix, Ariz., Paul of Somerset, N.J., Pamela Heiman and husband, David, of Phoenix, Ariz., Peter and wife, Amy, of Bethlehem, Pa., Patrick and wife, Jennifer, of San Diego, Calif., and Bernard Jr. and wife, Corrie, of Bel Air, Md.; his cherished grandchildren: Meghan, Matthew, David, James, Morgan, Delaney, Cashel, Sophia and Lily; a sister, Mary Huband of Canterbury, Conn.; a brother, Charles and wife, Ceil, of Altoona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill; and a sister, Shirley Hencherick.

Buck served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He was a mechanic and auto body shop manager for many years, first with Joseph F. Stein in Asbury Park. He then went on to Shore Motors in Wall Township and then Desiderio Oldsmobile in Ocean Township. He retired from Thermometrics, Edison, in 2000.

Buck was mechanically inclined and enjoyed taking care of his home and yard, gardening and fishing. His sense of humor kept the unsuspecting guessing and was often delivered with very few words. Most of all, he enjoyed taking care of and spending time with his cherished family.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick, N.J.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Buck’s memory to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016.
