Philip E. Quarry

Philip E. Quarry, 61, Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday at Altoona Regional after an extended illness.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late Wallace and Mary (Green) Quarry. He married Nancy E. Smith on May 12, 1973, in Altoona.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Ginnie Quarry of Sterling, Va.; five siblings: James Quarry (Karen), Kathy Smith (Dennis), Nancy Musselman (Malen) and Sandra Zembower (Kirk), all of Altoona, and Barbara Richardson (Mark) of Hanover; a sister-in-law, Nancy Quarry; two brothers-in-law: Donald Smith (Jean) of Sunset Beach, N.C., and David Smith (Josie) of Altoona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace E. Quarry.

Phil was a 1970 graduate of Altoona Area High School, and he retired from Affiliated Computer Services in 2009. He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Bavarian Aid Society.

Phil enjoyed spending time and having fun with his family. He enjoyed attending his nieces’ and nephews’ sports activities. He also liked playing cards and games with friends and family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, by Father Clement Gardner. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.

The family suggests that contributions be made to Garvey Manor Nursing Home, Hollidaysburg, or the American Kidney Fund.
