Cleon R. Turner

Cleon R. Turner, 88, Duncansville, died Thursday at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.

He was born in Bedford, son of the late Rush and Marcia (Diehl) Turner.

Surviving are his wife, Ruth A. (Davis); four children: Jean Ann Kunkel of Morristown, N.J., Tina Turner of Wasilla, Alaska, Diana DiLeo of Downingtown and Randy Turner of Covington, La.; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph of Denver, Pa.

He was preceded in death by three siblings: Peg, Jim and Robert.

Cleon was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving in the infantry, where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from Lafferty Trucking in 1987. He was a member of Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood, and a past member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church, Fairmont, W.Va., and he was an elder in the church.

Cleon enjoyed fishing, hunting and going to sales.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Logan Valley Presbyterian Church, Bellwood, Pastor Charles Curley officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
