William E. Frank

William E. Frank, 73, Altoona, died unexpectedly Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Altoona, son of the late John and Eva (Horell) Frank. He was twice married, first to Brenda Kennedy, who preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1974. He then married Janet Plummer on Sept. 2, 1988, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons: Robert T. (Tara) of Hummelstown and Brent J. of Harrisburg; two stepsons: Mark Plummer (Karen) in Vermont and Todd Plummer of State College; a stepdaughter, Leslie Guidry (Scott) of Hawthorne, N.J.; nine grandchildren; two brothers: Vincent of Altoona and Thomas (Anita) of State College; two sisters: Jane Steinbugl of Altoona and Marge Frantz of Mechanicsburg; and a special aunt, Katie Gehl.

He was preceded in death by a son, J. William, in 2002; two brothers: John J. and Walter M.; and a sister, Eleanor A.

William was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired from Warnaco in 2002 as a data processing manager after 44 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, president of the Swiss Club of Altoona for the past 10 years and a member of the Bavarian Aid Society, Unter Uns and Cesare Battisti Club.

William was an avid bowler, enjoyed sports of all kinds and was an avid Penn State fan.

Friends will be received from 4 to 9 p.m. today at The Stevens Mortuary Inc., 1421 Eighth Ave., Altoona, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church by Monsignor Timothy Stein. Committal will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
