Theresa M. Santopietro

Theresa M. “Trae” Santopietro, 93, a recent resident of Epworth Manor, Tyrone, passed away Monday at Tyrone Hospital after an extended illness. She was formerly of 516 Crawford Ave., Altoona.

She was born in Altoona, the eldest of seven children born to Giovanni and Lucia (Testa) Caporuscio. She married Louis J. Santopietro on April 11, 1943, and he passed away June 19, 1956.

Surviving are a daughter, Joy Wolford (Charles) of Tyrone; five grandchildren: Kristin (Dominic), Aaron, Dana, Raymond (Jen) and Michele; a sister, Elvira Grassi in Illinois; a brother, Dan Caporuscio in Florida; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond; three brothers: Joseph, Tony and Paul; and a sister, Catherine M. Caporuscio.

Theresa was a graduate of Altoona High School and retired as a sewing machine operator from Puritan Sportswear after 35 years of service. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Theresa loved her Italian heritage and appreciated all things Italian, including food, festivals and cooking. She was a hard worker who always put the needs of her family before her own. She enjoyed retirement, walking, watching TV and going for drives and especially enjoyed her daughter’s family and her sister, Catherine.

Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
