Marjorie J. Weamer

Marjorie J. Weamer, 80, Altoona, died early Wednesday morning at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Thomas H. and Helen (Hershel) Wilkins. She married George R. Weamer on Oct. 5, 1950, in Cumberland, Md.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters: Kathleen Hunter and Judy Luke and husband, Mark, all of Altoona; two grandchildren: Laurie Serrino and husband, Darryl, of Barrow, Alaska, and Matt Luke and wife, Jess, of Altoona; three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Darlene Drenning and husband, Norman “Red,” and Sharon Bookhamer and husband, Jim; and two special nieces: Deb Winrick and Jean Gilbke.

She was preceded in death by three siblings: Helen Miller, Jeanne Smith and Thomas “Bud” Wilkins.

Marjorie was a 1950 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a homemaker and a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. She was a past secretary/treasurer of the Altoona Women’s Bowling Association, having served for 15 years. She enjoyed her family, bowling, country music concerts and going to Nashville every year.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at Jones Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be celebrated during the visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona. Committal rites will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
