James P. Little
James P. Little, 81, a resident of The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg, formerly of Chest Springs, died Wednesday at the home.
He was born in Chest Springs, son of the late Clair and Frances (Fogle) Little.
Surviving are three children: Debra Simanski (Tim Wolfe) of Ashville RD, Walter Conrad (Maureen Kelly) of Bethlehem and Brenda Myers (Tom) of Chest Springs; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five siblings: Joseph (Mary Morrow), Mary McCoy and Beatrice Lewis, all of Chest Springs, Patrick (Catherine Farabaugh) of Pittsburgh and Leo (Mary Louise Link) of Girard; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou (Lewis), on Nov. 25, 2005; infant grandsons: Jesse and Devon Myers; three brothers: William and infants John and Robert; four sisters: Ruth Ropp, Verna Kuncelman and infants Agnes Mae and Ella Marie; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: William Lewis, Charles “Shocky” McCoy, Clair Kuncelman, Othmar Ropp and Agnes (Saltsgiver) Little.
James was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for E.P. Bender Coal, Carrolltown, for 25 years and also worked at area farms for many years. He enjoyed gardening and was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Patton.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today and 9 until the 10 a.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, Father Oliver Hebert, T.O.R., officiating. Committal will be at St. Benedict Cemetery, Carrolltown.
