Bernice Ann French

Bernice Ann French, 70, Altoona, died Monday at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of Franklin and Rosella (Litzinger) Bennett.

Surviving are two daughters: Faith Ann (French) Crum and Hope Ann Ellis and husband, Bill; four sons: Earl III and wife, Michele, Jim and wife, Trish, Andy and wife, Tina, and Bruce and wife, Brenda; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and another on the way; three brothers: Frank Bennett and wife, Carol, Raymond Bennett and Lester Bennett and wife, Patty; many nieces and nephews; and her companion of many years, Harry “Buzz” Garman.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Albert and Robert.

Bernice worked at the Toy Warehouse, Saf-T-Bak and Save-a-Lot, from which she retired after many years of service. She was a member of the Heidelberg Country Club and enjoyed playing bingo and bowling.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Anthony P. Scaglione Funeral Home, 1908 Seventh Ave., Altoona, where a memorial gathering and service will be held by Pastor Hud Crossman of the Field of Harvest Fellowship Church. Interment will be at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery.
