Leo R. Warner, 85, Bald Eagle, died Sunday at his residence.

He was born in Blandburg, son of Regis and Marion (Wilkenson) Warner. He married Lois Jean Woomer on May 17, 1957, in Tyrone.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Barry and wife, Leslie, of Pittsburgh; two daughters: Linda Baum and friend, Ray Lantz, of Punxsutawney and Kim Lewis and husband, Jim, of Bald Eagle; a daughter-in-law, Linda Warner and friend, Don Weidel, of Coalport; 11 grandchildren: Kevin Warner and wife, Aimee, Darren Warner and wife, Jessica, Jeffrey Warner and girlfriend, Samantha, Jaime Lewis, Heather Bartlebaugh and husband, Travis, Alicia Lewis and fiance, Anthony Wiser, Carrie Adkins, Melissa Nolder, Wanda Forrest and husband, Joe, Georgetta Neal and husband, Perry, and Brian Baum and wife, Christine; 23 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers-in law: James Woomer Sr. and wife, Kathy, of Altoona and Gerald Weight and friend, Mike, of Altoona; two nephews: James Woomer Jr. and wife, Laurie, of Altoona and Brian Durica and wife, Allison, of Roanoke, Va.; and several close friends, including Lynn and Georgie Wheland, Dave and Mary McGlynn and Jim Schmidt.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; a brother, Fred; and a close friend of the family, Joe Scalia.

Leo was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, serving as a corporal in the Manila Leave Center, Philippines. He retired in 2003 as owner of Warner’s Radio & TV, Tyrone, after more than 50 years of business. He was a member of Tipton Baptist Church, where he served as head usher and trustee for several decades.

Leo was well known for his dedication to the Tyrone community and was awarded the TACO Distinguished Service Award in 2003. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Canada and being with his family.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Feller Memorial Home, Tyrone, and 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Tipton Baptist Church, Pastor Dan Woodring officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park.
