Man seeks to withdraw plea in 2015 slaying
BEDFORD (AP) — A man is seeking to withdraw a guilty plea he entered as a teenager in the 2015 slaying of a woman during what Pennsylvania authorities said was a marijuana deal gone bad.
The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat reported that now-20-year-old Ryan Hardwick of Martinsburg told a Bedford County judge Friday that he didn’t fire the fatal shots and didn’t know another teen planned to fire. He wants to withdraw a first-degree murder plea that resulted in a sentence of 60 years to life.
Authorities in Bedford County said the two teens arranged to buy marijuana from a man who sent 21-year-old Stephanie Waters to complete the transaction, but then-16-year-old Deauntaye Moye shot her.
Hardwick, then 15, acknowledged shooting the victim’s dog and helping move her body.
Moye is serving life without parole.
