Johnstown airport receives grants

JOHNSTOWN — The John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport will receive a total of $150,000 in state grants to upgrade the facility.

State Rep. Frank Burns, D-Cambria, said the funds will be used for improvements at the airport’s passenger terminal facility, including energy-efficient components.

The airport is among 29 across Pennsylvania that will receive more than $13 million in state investments from the state Department of Transportation’s Aviation Transportation Assistance Program, the Aviation Development Program and the Multimodal Fund.

As of April 2019, Pennsylvania ranks 13th nationwide in the total number of public-use aviation facilities, with 127 airports, heliports and seaplane bases.
