Church plans free movie

The movie “The Grace Card” will be shown at 8 p.m. today at the Woodbury Church of the Brethren, 4359 Woodbury Pike.

“The Grace Card” is about two police officers who experience loss, prejudice, grief, forgiveness and grace. Those attending are urged to bring a lawn chair for the outdoor movie. If it rains, the movie will be held inside.

Inmate pleads guilty

An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Loretto has pleaded guilty in federal court in Johnstown to possession of a prohibited object in prison, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said.

David Smeltzer, 37, pleaded guilty to the indictment before U.S. District Judge Kim R. Gibson.

On Aug. 5, 2018, Smeltzer possessed a quantity of Buprenorphine.

Gibson scheduled sentencing for

Dec. 19.

JOHNSTOWN

Plea extends sentence

An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Loretto has pleaded guilty in federal court in Johnstown to possession of a prohibited object in prison, and immediately following, was sentenced to eight months in prison, consecutive to the current prison term he is serving, and three years’ supervised release, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady announced.

Samuel Vargas, 33, pleaded guilty to the indictment before U.S. District Judge Kim R. Gibson.

On Aug. 21, 2018, Vargas possessed a quantity of Buprenorphine.
