Students honored at SkillsUSA Championships

Five area students were honored at the 2019 SkillsUSA Championships, held in Louisville, Ky., on June 26-27.

A team consisting of Eliza Albright, Devyn Amigh and Marissa Hoover from the Greater Altoona Career and Technical Center was awarded the High School Gold medal and Skill Point Certificate in Career Pathways – Human Ser­vices.

GACTC student Daryla Clark from Duncansville was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Customer Service. Rebecca Rininger of Ashville, a student at Admiral Peary Vo-Tech in Ebensburg, was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Technical Drafting.

Skill Point Certificates were awarded in 72 occupational and leadership areas to students who met a threshold contest score defined by industry. The Skill Point Certificate is a component of SkillsUSA’s assessment program for career and technical education.

More than 6,500 students competed at the SkillsUSA Championships in 103 hands-on competitions.
