Police: Duncansville woman stole car, drove to court appearance

A Duncansville woman is accused of driving a stolen car to District Court.

Jessica L. Markovich, 38, 270 Allen Lane, was arrested Thursday after she drove a stolen 2009 Mazda to Magisterial District Judge Andrew Blattenberger’s office in Martinsburg, where she was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on two cases involving identity theft and access device fraud, according to charges filed by Greenfield Township police.

Markovich was arrested June 28, but had been free after posting a total of $30,000 cash bail through a bail bondsman on July 7. She was scheduled to appear in court Thursday for the theft-related cases, which were also filed by Greenfield Township police.

According to the latest charges, the vehicle was reported stolen on Monday.

Markovich now faces misdemeanor counts of receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of an automobile. Markovich was released Thursday on an unsecured $30,000 bond and is scheduled to appear before Blattenberger on Aug. 22 for preliminary hearings on all three pending cases.
