Traffic stop yields pound of marijuana
From Mirror staff reports
A traffic stop in Altoona allegedly turned up a pound of marijuana on Monday.
Marquis P. Clark, 29, of Woodbridge, Va., was arrested about 6:15 p.m. Monday after state police allegedly found a pound of pot in a bag in the black Chevrolet Equinox that Clark was driving on West Chestnut Avenue.
According to the charges, a pair of state troopers were driving when they saw the Equinox had window tint on the front of the vehicle. When troopers approached Clark and asked for his license and registration, they allegedly smelled marijuana coming from the car.
Clark allegedly said he smoked marijuana, and after a search of the vehicle, the pound of marijuana was allegedly found in a vacuum-sealed pouch inside a bag on the front, passenger’s side floor.
Clark, who has lived in Altoona, was driving on an expired Virginia driver’s license, police noted.
After his arraignment on felony and misdemeanor drug charges, Clark was released on an unsecured $15,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is slated for July 3 at Central Court.
