Commissioner candidate forum set
A candidate forum for the two open Blair County commissioner seats will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bavarian Hall at 112 S. 13th St.
The forum, hosted by the Blair County Tea Party and Indivisible Blair County, will feature Republican incumbent Bruce Erb and Democratic incumbent Ted Beam Jr., as well as Democratic challenger Laura Burke and Republican challengers Debra Weston, Bruce Kelley, Chuck Gojmerac, Amy Webster and Joseph Zolna.
All candidates have been invited to the event, and most have confirmed their attendance.
County commissioners have a wide range of responsibilities that impact local life, including taxes, elections, the county courthouse and prison, emergency management, development corporations and social services, according to a Blair County Tea Party press release. A commissioner acts as a liaison for more than 10 different boards or committees.
“Given their impact on the county’s residents, it is vitally important for citizens to be educated about their positions and ideas before they make their vote,” the press release states.
The event is free and open to the public.
