From Mirror staff reports
JOHNSTOWN — An Altoona man has rendered a guilty plea in federal court to possession of child pornography.
John F. Boslet, 53, of 1302 N. Second St., is scheduled for sentencing at 10 a.m. Aug. 12, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady.
Based on the charge and plea, Boslet faces up to a maximum 10 years in prison, a fine of $250,000 or both.
The indictment resulting from a federal grand jury accused Boslet of possessing computer graphic files with child pornography which were shipped and transported via interstate or foreign commerce by means of a computer.
The Department of Homeland Security Investigations conducted the investigation leading to the indictment. It was part of an effort referred to as Project Safe Childhood, launched by the U.S. Department in Justice in 2006 to combat a growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
