Art competition now open for submissions
The 2019 High School Congressional Art Competition for the 13th District of Pennsylvania is now open for submissions.
The competition, sponsored by the U.S. House of Representatives, recognizes talented young artists in congressional districts across the country, according to a press release
Every school district within the 13th District can submit one piece of student art to represent its high school. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 artists have reportedly participated.
“The Congressional Art Competition is a tremendous way to show the artistic talent of the students in Pennsylvania’s 13th District,” said U.S. Rep. John Joyce, R-13th District. The winner’s submission will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
The deadline to submit to Joyce’s office is April 16. Paintings, drawing, collages and photography along with other mediums can be submitted. Artwork entered can be up to 26 inches by 26 inches and maximum of 4 inches in depth. Submissions cannot weigh more than 15 pounds and must be original works that do not violate any copyright laws.
