HASD to replace fence at stadium

The Hollidaysburg Area School Board voted Wednesday to accept the $278,100 bid of Ventura Construction Services Inc. to replace the fence at Tiger Stadium.

The fence replacement is part of the Restore the Roar capital campaign.

The bid represents a $46,020 more than what was approved in January for the project.

In total, $48,000 for the project will come from the district’s Capital Reserve Fund, and the balance is to be contributed from the Pillar Project, Restore the Roar and advertising funds through the Hollidaysburg Area School District Foundation.

Monument will be dedicated

The dedication for a monument to be erected to honor the five Medal of Honor recipients from Huntingdon County will be held at noon Saturday at the Huntingdon County Courthouse, 223 Penn St.

After the dedication there will be a reception at the Huntingdon VFW, 520 Penn St.

Daffodil deliveries delayed

Because of unexpected freezing weather and snow in Washington state, where the flowers are grown, the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days deliveries will be delayed until the first week of April.

Deliveries had been scheduled to begin next week; they now will take place the week of April 1.
