Woman charged in stabbing
Baker allegedly used chef’s knife to injure man
A Frankstown woman is in jail after police said she stabbed a man in the leg.
Rebecca J. Baker, 28, of 611 Route 22, Hollidaysburg, is accused of stabbing a man, described as a friend of Baker’s boyfriend, in the leg early Sunday at her home.
According to charges filed by state police, Baker allegedly started to strike the man with a metal spatula when he was in the kitchen to retrieve a Mountain Dew from the refrigerator.
The two had been in an altercation earlier but had been separated.
When the man came back inside, Baker allegedly said something to him and started to hit him.
When Baker allegedly grabbed a chef’s knife and stabbed the man in the leg, he threw a coffee pot at her, police said.
The man was treated at UPMC Altoona for the stab wound, and Baker was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon along with related misdemeanors.
Bail was set at $50,000 cash on Sunday by Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones, and Baker was lodged in Blair County Prison to await a preliminary hearing on Jan. 22.
