Veterans Day parade set for today in downtown

Event begins at 10 a.m.

The Blair County War Veterans Council will hold a parade at 10 a.m. today in downtown Altoona. There will also be a ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the armistice ending World War I.

More than 10 units have signed up for the parade.

Command Sgt. Maj. Harry Buchanan, state senior enlisted adviser at Joint Force Headquarters at Fort Indiantown Gap, will speak after the parade.

The parade will form at Eighth Avenue and 17th Street, travel to 12th Avenue to 12th Street to 11th Avenue to the Robert E. Laws Veterans Mall between 14th Street and 15th Street for the ceremony.
