Fire guts home
Family of seven left homeless
WILLIAMSBURG — A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of a Thursday morning fire that gutted the home of a Woodbury Township family.
The blaze, which broke out about 7:55 a.m. at 355 Fairview Road, just south of here, is not considered to be of suspicious origin, said Travis Prough, Williamsburg second assistant fire chief.
A family of seven — Prough did not have the names — was left homeless as a result of the blaze.
“When I arrived on scene, the front porch was completely involved and entering into the first floor,” Prough said.
Damage to the 1.5-story log home is estimated at $200,000, Prough said.
Volunteers from Martinsburg, Geeseytown, Roaring Spring, Duncansville and Alexandria assisted in fighting the fire.
Volunteers were on scene about 4.5 hours, Prough said.
