Red Cross teams assess water damage
The American Red Cross will send teams to Bedford County today for damage assessment from the recent flooding.
The Bedford County commissioners signed a declaration of disaster emergency, which allows information to be collected on damages and relaxes rules around municipalities’ work on repairing roadways and other public facilities.
David Cubbison, emergency management agency coordinator, asked residents who have had water enter their main living spaces to contact his office at 623-9117 and leave a message.
The messages should include name, address and a return phone number.
The Red Cross teams will assess damages at homes and give “limited assistance when possible,” according to a media release.
Cubbison expressed thanks to the first responders for their efforts on helping residents impacted by the flooding.
