Blair Chamber to host Breakfast Club meeting

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club will meet at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 13 at The Casino at Lakemont Park.

Guest speaker will be the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center’s new executive director, Eric Palmer. Career and technical education are essential components of Blair County’s economic future. Palmer will explain his vision for a strong local workforce in his presentation.

The cost to attend is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers.

Electrical safety training session planned

The Innovative Manufacturers Center, a public-private partnership that aids central Pennsylvania manufacturers, will hold a free electrical safety training for general industry, in partnership with the Manufacturers’ Association.

This four-hour electrical safety training will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Blair County Convention Center.

The training will cover general electrical safety information, general electrical safety practices, common hazards, permitted and nonpermitted uses, arc flash and energy control procedures.

Sam’s Club, Instacart join forces for home delivery

Sam’s Club has expanded same-day home delivery service to several new markets, including the Johnstown/Altoona area.

Instacart customers will have the option to shop Sam’s Club without a membership and with same-day delivery. Sam’s Club members will receive membership rewards and member-only pricing.

OSHA 10-hour training program scheduled

An OSHA 10-hour training program will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 and 16 at ACCO Brands, Alexandria.

This training for general industry program focuses on SAFE management principles that can make a company both compliant with OSHA and a safe place to work. The OSH Act, PPE, Electrical Safety, Machine Guarding and the new Hazard Communication Rule (GHS) are some of the topics addressed in the programs.

Each attendee will receive a certification of completion from EMS Consulting and the OSHA 10-hour card from OSHA.
