Detour set for Amelia Avenue

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. Inc. of New Enterprise will implement a detour on Amelia Avenue on Monday, as a part of the Route 764 resurfacing project from Greenwood to Pinecroft in Logan Township.

Beginning Monday, the contractor will implement a detour of Amelia Avenue between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m. The detour route will follow Frankstown Road to I-99 to 17th Street and back to Amelia Avenue.

Work will take place until Sept. 12. There will be no detour from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3.

Work includes the resurfacing of approximately 2.9 miles of Amelia Avenue along with drainage, guardrail, signage and signal upgrades.

Overall work on this project includes the resurfacing of Route 764 along with drainage upgrades, guiderail upgrades, signal upgrades, and new signage.

All work on this $1.9 million project is expected to be completed by September.

Blair Tea Party meeting set

The Blair County Tea Party’s meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Bavarian Hall, 112 S. 13th St., will feature Americans for Prosperity’s Ashley Klingensmith.

Klingensmith will be talking about AFP’s campaign to put pressure on the Senate to confirm President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. She will also be recruiting and training volunteers to utilize AFP’s activist calling system.

AFP has committed to spending “seven-figures” on advertising and grassroots engagement in support of confirming Kavanaugh.
