Woman alleges assault

A city man is in jail after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend on Second Avenue.

Michael F. Sutton, 23, was taken into custody after Altoona police responded to a home on the 300 block of Second Avenue about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

According to charges filed by Altoona police, Sutton’s girlfriend had a black eye and was crying, while the “bedroom and living room were in complete disarray with the TV knocked to the floor, couches moved out of place, gaming consoles knocked off the stand and a large clothing shelf knocked over with clothes everywhere.”

Police noted the argument that led to the violence was over Sutton’s alleged infidelity and his girlfriend told officers he became more agitated and violent the more she confronted him about it.

Sutton is accused of striking his girlfriend during the dispute, and he now faces a misdemeanor charge of simple assault along with

a summary harassment charge.

Sutton was jailed after his arraignment Wednesday night, and remains in Blair County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $15,000 bail.
