Preservation work to start
George S. Hann & Son Inc. of Fort Littleton will begin bridge preservation work Tuesday on four structures in Spruce Creek, Wayne and Cromwell townships and Mount Union Borough, Huntingdon County. The structures are located on Route 45, Route 305, Route 747 and Chester Furnace Road.
On Tuesday, the contractor will begin temporary asphalt widening on the Route 305 bridge along with the installation of temporary traffic signals, barrier and pavement markings. The company will then commence work on replacing the expansion dams, bridge parapets, spall repairs, safety wings and paving of bridge approaches. Work on this bridge should be completed by the middle of May.
Route 36 culvert work starting
Work to construct a box culvert on Route 36 in Clearfield County is scheduled to start this week, PennDOT said. The box culvert will replace a metal pipe arch about
2.5 miles south of the village of Newburg, near the Five Points intersection.
Crews will be working on tree removal, erosion and sedimentation controls and construction of a temporary run-around. The temporary roadway should be in use by mid-April.
The project is expected to be complete in August.
