Cambria reports increase in flu cases

While most area counties saw a drop in the number of new flu cases last week, Cambria County saw a

125 percent jump after a significant drop the previous week.

Blair, Bedford and Clearfield counties reported more than 50 percent declines last week. Bedford County only had a dozen new cases last week, down from 26 the week ending Feb. 24. Blair County had 108 new lab-confirmed flu cases last week, down from 230 the previous week and the lowest number since the week ending Jan. 20.

Clearfield County had 73 new cases last week, after setting its peak the previous week at 167.

Cambria County had 149 new cases last week, up from 66 the week ending Feb. 24 and its highest number since the end of January.

Huntingdon County reported 49 new cases, down from 80 each of the previous two weeks and the lowest since mid-January.

Statewide, the number of new cases was down by a third to 7,508 last week. The state also reported 19 flu-related deaths last week.
