Nine people rescued from apartment building fire
Nine people were rescued Saturday from a burning Ebensburg apartment building, which sent two residents to a local hospital, according to the Tribune-Democrat newspaper.
The newspaper reported that a morning fire ignited in a second-floor apartment in the Westview Apartment complex along Ben Franklin Highway.
Nine people, including two children, living in the 24-apartment building were rescued from balconies by firefighters using a ladder, according to the newspaper.
A state police fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze.
Council of Republican Women to host candidates
The Central Pennsylvania Council of Republican Women will host Republican candidates for local and state Races at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Altoona Grand Hotel.

Penn State Altoona to hold PTSD awareness event
Penn State Altoona is hosting an event to raise awareness about post-traumatic stress disorder from 8 to 10 p.m. March 15 at the Slep Student Center pond view lounge.
Attendees can watch a 30-minute documentary about a Vietnam War veteran with PTSD and hear the videographer, Kara Frame, and the chaplain for Veteran Affairs, Lewis Button, speak.
The annual event is hosted by Omega Delta Sigma, a national co-ed veterans fraternity. Art Rice, event organizer and fraternity member, said the event is free and open to the public.
