Juvenile faces charges
State police filed disorderly conduct charges against a juvenile for sending a “disruptive image over Snapchat referencing the Moshannon Valley High School,” states a Clearfield state police report. The incident occurred Wednesday in Woodward Township, Clearfield.
VA temporarily removes flag
The Van Zandt VA Medical Center temporarily took down its main flag Friday because of the local weather advisory, the facility announced.
On June 22, 1942, Congress passed a joint resolution, amended on Dec. 22, 1942, that encompassed what has come to be known as the U.S. Flag Code: “The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement.”
Blue Knob to reopen today
Blue Knob All Seasons Resort will reopen for skiing and snowboarding at noon today.
The resort has been closed because of the recent warm and rainy weather, which resulted in unprecedented loss of snow at various places on the mountain.
With the return of more winter-like weather, Blue Knob is able to make snow, in addition to any natural snow that may result from the latest weather system.
Blue Knob will be open from noon to
9 p.m. today; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
The resort will operate from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. March 9 and 10 and 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. March 11. Any additional days in the winter sports season will follow the same schedule.
Jack Hanna to speak
Jack Hanna will speak as part of Penn State Altoona’s Distinguished Speaker Series at 7:30 p.m. March 15 in the Adler Athletic Complex.
Free tickets for the event are available now at the Penn State Altoona Bookstore and the box office in the Misciagna Family Center.
Animals that may make an appearance, but are not guaranteed, include a cheetah, bobcat, snow leopard, kangaroo, penguin, tortoise, bald eagle, barred owl and sloth.
Hanna has made countless television appearances on shows such as “Good Morning America,” “Larry King Live,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and the “Late Show with David Letterman.” He has created three of his own nationally syndicated television programs: “Jack Hanna’s Animal Adventures,” “Jack Hanna’s Into the Wild” and most recently “Jack Hanna’s Wild Countdown.”
