Authority to select firm soon for trail work

The Bedford Joint Municipal Authority soon will select an engineering firm for its proposed plan to extend the Bedford Heritage Trail from Fort Bedford Park to Old Bedford Village and Friendship Village.

The selected firm will prepare necessary trail easements along Davidson Street and Clearfield Avenue, create detailed construction design drawings and obtain required construction permits.

The authority will apply for construction funds to the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and PennDOT to build the trail in two or three phases.

The first phase will be to construct the segment between Fort Bedford Park to Davidson Street. The next phases will be for construction on Clearfield Avenue and the north end of properties owned by Dave Fulton and the Williams Family Partnership.
