Bedford plans County Day

BEDFORD — The Bedford County Historical Society will host the annual celebration of Bedford County Day at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hall at Kinton’s Knob, 6441 Lincoln Highway.

The yearly event features a particular area of the county’s history each year, offering a program called “Washington and Bouquet’s Impasse on the Forbes Road” presented by Debra Topinka, states a press release.

Topinka is a Bedford resident and physical therapist with historical interests in the American Civil War and Pennsylvania in the French and Indian War. She has been involved in many re-enactments and presentations on local history.

The Everett Area High School Tribe will also play patriotic music directed by Sean Cogan and feature folk songs sung by Jamey Clark and Ellen Espenshade.

This celebration commemorates the establishment of Bedford County on March 9, 1771, and provides the citizens of Bedford County the opportunity to “focus on the rich history of our county,” according to a proclamation approved by the county’s commissioners Tuesday.
