Police arrest man on warrant from Ga.

A man with an active arrest warrant in Georgia now faces charges in Altoona, after he was found with drugs during an early Saturday traffic stop.

Mario L. Foster, 44, of no fixed address was arrested shortly after 2 a.m. on the 400 block of East Plank Road, Altoona Police Sgt. Matthew Plummer said.

Speaking inside the Altoona Police Department Sunday, Plummer said Foster was pulled over for swerving and failing to use a turn signal while driving along Plank Road.

Foster was driving a white Range Rover with Virginia tags when he was stopped, according to a post on the police department’s Facebook page.

When police approached the vehicle, they could see that Foster had white powder, suspected to be cocaine, on his nostrils, Plummer said.

Plummer said Foster also had a bag of what appeared to be cocaine tucked behind his left ear.

Foster’s vehicle was then searched, and police found three more bags of suspected cocaine, a bag of what looked like crack cocaine and $360 in cash, according to the Facebook post.

A loaded handgun — a High Point 9mm — was found under the driver’s seat with eight bullets in its magazine, one in the chamber and its safety off, Plummer said.

Online court documents show Foster faces felony charges of possession of a firearm when prohibited, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

He also faces lesser charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, restrictions on alcoholic beverages, driving without a license and failing to use a turn signal.

Foster remains in Blair County Prison unable to post 10 percent of $20,000 bail, according to online court documents.

He is to appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Jan. 31 before Magisterial District Judge Ben Jones.
