Bedford County pair face abuse charges

BEDFORD — Two people in Bedford County face charges over the alleged abuse of a 9-year-old girl.

According to state police at Bedford, Amy Lee Sorrow, 38, of Riddlesburg is accused of pushing the child down a flight of steps in August 2016, and a few days later she was allegedly seen “slamming” the girl’s head off the living room floor.

Police said there was video footage of Sorrow pushing the child down the stairs, and it was 54-year-old Joseph Gawlick, who lives with Sorrow, who allegedly saw her hit the girl’s head off the floor.

Gawlick is accused of waiting nine months before reporting the incidents and turning over the video.

Sorrow is charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child, and on Thursday she posted 10 percent of her $25,000 bail. Gawlick was arraigned Tuesday on recklessly endangering another person and endangering the welfare of a child charges and released on an unsecured $25,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at Bedford County Central Court.
