Two face felony burglary charges

Two people face felony charges in Altoona after police say they broke into a home from which they had been evicted.

Bridget Butler, 54, and Robert Doyle, 48, were arrested Monday after police were called to 104 Walnut Ave. for a report of a disturbance and found the pair inside. According to the charges, Butler told the responding Altoona police officer that she was in the process of being evicted and that they broke into the home because she had lost her keys.

Police said a side window in the home had been broken out so the two could get inside. Doyle allegedly told officers they used a brick to break out the window.

The landlord told police Butler had been evicted and the locks were changed on Dec. 1. Police said the eviction notice was also posted on the front door.

Both Butler and Doyle now face felony burglary charges along with counts of criminal trespass and criminal mischief. Bail was set Monday by Magisterial District Judge Jeffrey Auker, and both Butler and Doyle were released on unsecured $5,000 bonds.

A preliminary hearing is slated for Dec. 27 at Central Court.
