Ski resorts begin opening slopes
Seven Springs Mountain Resort will reopen the slopes today and remain open daily, marking the official start of daily operations and night skiing for the 2017-18 season.
Hidden Valley Resort will open for the season on Saturday, and Laurel Mountain will open for the season on Thursday.
Consistently low temperatures allowed for extensive snowmaking throughout the beginning of December and will continue throughout this week. Seven Springs, Hidden Valley and Laurel Mountain have taken full advantage of the arctic conditions, making as much snow as possible, according to Seven Springs spokeswoman Katie Buchan.
Seven Springs turned Black Friday into White Friday this year, opening the slopes for skiers and snowboarders the day after Thanksgiving, and it has opened the slopes each weekend since.
