Bellwood, Bells Gap trail to be discussed
Antis Township and Bellwood Borough are scheduled to host a public meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, when they will discuss a prospective trail that will connect downtown Bellwood to the Bells Gap Trail in Bellwood-Antis Park.
Township and borough representatives, as well as members of the Pittsburgh-based consulting group Mackin, will be in attendance at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library, where they will present proposed trail alignments, according to a news release.
The presentation comes after a trail feasibility study was conducted as part of a comprehensive parks plan developed by both municipalities.
The development of trails was listed as a top priority by local residents who filled out a recreation survey.
Originally, officials planned to create a trail along the path of the former Logan Valley Streetcar right-of-way, but a study has identified alternative alignments that will allow the majority of the trail to be off-road, according to the release.
