Police: Man beat his ex-girlfriend

A Johnstown man is behind bars on charges he beat his ex-girlfriend after breaking into her Altoona home.

Edward L. Reviere, 32, of Johnstown was arraigned Thursday on charges that include felony burglary and aggravated assault stemming from the Oct. 1 break-in of his ex-girlfriend’s house on the 1000 block of Ninth Avenue. Reviere allegedly punched the woman repeatedly in the face before throwing her face-first onto the floor.

According to Altoona police, Reviere had run into his ex-girlfriend at a local bar the night of Sept. 30 and had told her he wanted to them to get back together. Police said the woman declined and left the bar. Reviere then called and texted her in the hours afterward. Between 2 and

3 a.m. he called her to say he was at her home, so she called and asked one of her teenage children to look out the window to see if he was outside.

Police said the woman then heard Reviere in the background of the call and knew he was in the house, so she headed back to her house.

When she got home, she was confronted by an angry Reviere who then assaulted her, police said. Reviere fled after the woman yelled for one of her children to call 911, taking the woman’s $700 cellphone with him.

Reviere’s bail was set a $30,000 cash, and he is due to appear at Central Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
