C-K on track to hire new superintendent

CLAYSBURG — The Claysburg-Kimmel School Board is on track to hire a new superintendent by the end of the month, board President Jeremy Knott said Wednesday.

Knott said the board will likely schedule a special meeting later this month to hire a new district leader, with board members hopeful they’ll have the new superintendent in place by their November meeting.

“We’re definitely intending to stay on schedule and have a new superintendent,” he said.

The district has employed retired educator Norman E. Hatten Jr. on an interim basis since former Superintendent Royce Boyd left in late June.

The board paid for help from the Pennsylvania School Boards Association to ensure their search was carried out properly and reached as many candidates as possible.

Knott said he could not reveal any details about the search or final candidates Wednesday.
