Blair commissioners to review bond issue
From Mirror staff reports
HOLLIDAYSBURG — Blair County commissioners will be meeting at
2 p.m. Monday for further review of projects for inclusion in a 2017 bond issue.
Instead of adjourning Tuesday’s weekly meeting, it was announced that the meeting would be recessed and reconvened Monday in the public meeting room at the courthouse, to consider the proposed bond issue projects.
Commissioners have spoken about the need to finance several proposed projects with the use of a bond issue that the county would pay off over several years. While the size of the bond issue has been projected at $8 million to
$10 million, county leaders have yet to identify the specific projects to be included and the annual payment to cover the cost.
The last list of proposed projects included improvements at the courthouse, the prison, two magisterial district judge offices, the highway department, the 911 center and Valley View Park.
The list also proposed the lighting of Convention Center Boulevard and Convention Center Drive, a salary study/job classification management system and new voting equipment.
The reconvened meeting is open to the public.
