Frankstown intersection final paving set

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Prime contractor Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance of Everett, along with Grannas Bros. Stone and Asphalt Inc. of Hollidaysburg, will begin work tonight on final paving for the Frankstown Intersection Project.

Today, Grannas Bros. will begin final paving work on Route 22 in the project area at 11 p.m. and is expected to be finished by 7 a.m. Monday. Final paving of Frankstown Road will occur on Tuesday during daylight hours followed by final paving of Reservoir Road on Wednesday during daylight hours. Paving will be followed by final pavement markings, guardrail and seeding.

Traffic will be reduced to a single lane and controlled by flaggers.

Rep. Ward holding shredding event

State Rep. Judy Ward, R-Hollidaysburg, is hosting a shredding event from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion Hall, North Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg (across from the state police barracks).

Ward’s shredding event will allow each person to destroy up to 40 pounds of paper. The industrial shredder will be operated by Burgmeier Shredding.

During the event, Ward will also accept donations of nonperishable food items to benefit the American Rescue Mission in Hollidaysburg.

Blair Farm Bureau hosting meeting

The Blair County Farm Bureau annual meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Williamsburg Farm Show Building.

Those in attendance will hear reports, policy resolution discussion and participate in elections for the county board of directors. There will also be a special presentation from a representative from the Pennsylvania Game Commission discussing chronic wasting disease.

Reservations are required and can be made by contacting Dotty Stahl at 793-3182. The reservation deadline is Saturday. The price of the meal is $14.
