Police: Man struck, killed by vehicle
CLEARFIELD — A 77-year-old Clearfield County man was killed Thursday night while attempting to remove a dead deer from the road.
State police at Clearfield said Saturday that they have identified a 19-year-old woman believed to be driving a Ford Focus that struck and killed Boyd R. Shirey, Morrisdale, along Deer Creek Road, just south of Fawn Lane in Graham Township.
Police said the crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. when Shirey was struck in the northbound lane of travel. The impact of the crash sent the vehicle into a grassy area off the eastern side of the road, then the driver fled, traveling north, state police at Clearfield said. The Morris Township Fire Department, Windburne Fire Department, Moshannon Valley EMS and Coroner Michael Morris also responded to the crash site.
